Cafe Sci: "Aerial Photography & Unmanned Aircraft"

Monday 30 Jan 2017
19:00 to 21:30
The Tea Bar, 19 London Street, Basingstoke
RG21 7NT       (Map)
England

Why not come along and find out what the future might hold for drones and photography from the air at tonight's talk titled "Aerial Photography and Operating Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Commercial Gain".  The talk starts at 7.30pm and will be delivered by Chris Bradbury from the company Altitude Aerial Photography Ltd.

Please arrive from 7.00pm to purchase cakes, teas, coffees and drinks etc before the talk starts.

SUMMARY:

Chris Bradbury will be talking about his work using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) or ‘Drones’ for the purposes of aerial photography, filming and surveying, as well as demonstrating some of the creative work he has done with drones.

This will include an overview of the different types of aircraft he uses and the benefits and restrictions of each kind, as well as briefly covering the legal requirements for operating UAV’s in the UK.

The talk will also discuss some of the potential future applications for drone technology and ways in which they could be used beyond photography, as well as bringing a selection of aircraft for static display, which will give you an opportunity to get up and close to some very high tech unmanned aircraft systems.

SPEAKER:

Chris is currently the owner of Altitude Aerial Photography Ltd and has approximately 35 years experience with photography and operating remotely piloted vehicles. Chris’ experience has resulted in TV appearances as a specialist advisor or display pilot, as well as display flying at various shows around the UK.

Chris also helps as a specialist advisor to the British Model Flying Association and works as an examiner for one of the UK’s CAA approved UAV training centres.

VENUE AND FORMAT

The Tea Bar will be open for at least half an hour before the talk which starts at 7.30pm, so you can get yourself a drink and have a chat with other participants. The discussions will aim to finish around 9.00pm, though everyone will be welcome to stay around and have a chat with the speaker afterwards ... and indulge in more of the Tea Bar's delicious cakes.

The format of the evening is usually a talk of 30 to 40 minutes, followed by a short break so the audience can refill their glasses, before questions and discussions about the talk.

Entry is free and open to everyone, but we do encourage you to buy a tea, coffee  and cakes to show your support for the The Tea Bar who sponsor the meeting by providing the venue.

Cafe Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore and debate the latest ideas in science and technology.
