ABOUT US

Basingstoke Voluntary Services (BVS) is a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) and is also a member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). BVS was set up in 1965 as a result of the town expansion. It has been instrumental in starting many of the groups that are now household names in the borough including Relate, Headway, Dial-a-Ride, Community Transport, Rape Crisis, CRUSE, Victim Support, Age Concern and lately Basingstoke Advocacy Services, Face Us, a family centre for people who are deaf and Basingstoke and District Community Mediation Service. BVS brings local voluntary and community groups together to promote and develop effective local voluntary action. BVS uses local knowledge and expertise to operate at the heart of the community. BVS assists in the development of new groups, identifies new needs and develops initiatives to meet them. BVS encourages partnership working for the good of the local community. BVS acts as a channel for local groups to voice their opinions on local policy issues. Membership is free to accredited voluntary and community groups that operate within the borough of Basingstoke and Deane and surrounding areas.
