Basingstoke Makerspace Open Day
Saturday 15 Sep 2018
09:00 to 16:00
Maritime House, 65 New Road · Basingstoke
England
Come and have tea and cake and talk about the things you would like to make!
Ever had a good idea for something and wished that you could make it? There’s a worldwide community of people who shared your wish, and then decided to do something about it. This is the origin of the ‘Makerspace’ movement, that aims to provide people with the facilities and skills to make their ideas into real objects.
Basingstoke now has it’s own Makerspace; a collaborative work space for making, learning, exploring and sharing with a variety of maker equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, soldering irons etc. Some of the skills that can be learned in this makerspace include electronics, 3d printing, 3D modelling, coding, cosplay, robotics, crafts, photography, wood and metalworking.
We will be holding our “Annual Open Day” from 9am-4pm on 15th Sept 2018. Join us and see all that is happening in the Basingstoke Makerspace!
Even though our Makerspace has only been open since January, we already have a rapidly growing community of people that enjoy making things. If you can’t make the open day, we also hold a free open social evening at the Makerspace every Tuesday at 7pm – 9pm, followed by a get-together with Basingstoke Friends later in the evening. You will find warm welcome any Tuesday evening.
