"Star Wars" @ Vue Cinema, Festival Square

Come and join Bob at this evening for the most anticipated film of the Christmas and New Year season. Meet at the Wetherspoons, The Angel next to the cinema at 7.00pm to organise the purchase of tickets for the film.

In a world filled with film franchises, few can claim to be as enduring or as loved as Star Wars.  Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) changed the face of the blockbuster forever and has earned millions of loyal fans from around the globe.

Ever since it was announced that Disney had teamed up with George Lucas to create a brand new trilogy, the internet has been buzzing with anticipation. When it was confirmed that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were reprising their iconic roles, excitement levels went through the roof – the force was indeed going to return in a way not seen since the early 80s.

Exact plot details have been kept under wraps to ensure that cinema goers will get the old-school element of surprise, but we do know several of Hollywood’s hottest young talent has jumped on board the franchise.

Lupita Nyong’o burst onto the American film scene with a mesmerising performance in the Academy Award winning12 Years a Slave (2013) – she appears in The Force Awakens in a role that is yet to be confirmed.

Gwendoline Christie from TV’s Game of Thrones also stars in a significant role; other actors lined up include Oscar Issac (Drive) and Warwick Davis (Get Santa, Harry Potter). The teaser trailer was released globally on Friday 28 November, and by Monday the 1st December had been viewed over 40m times!
