The AIVC Conference weekend is held sometime between
15 March and 30 April at a Hotel or University depending on the availability of a venue for
the host club. There will usually be delegates from between 25 and 35 of
the associations 45 clubs attending the IVC Conference.
Friday evening there is a welcome buffet followed by club presentations of
forthcoming major events and a disco.
Saturday morning following breakfast has the national officer reports
followed by Conference motions. All this business is dealt with in a
brisk and professional manner to lead the Conference to lunch.
Following lunch there were various trips out to visit the host city and the surrounding
areas. Some people will go shopping in the city centre while others
visit a few of the areas many attractions.
The evening Conference
Party is a great chance for delegates to get together for an excellent meal and
have a dance till the early hours of the morning.
Sunday morning following breakfast there are conference
discussion groups followed by consideration of the AIVC national budget and
election of the national officers. All the national officer posts are
usually filled by election from amongst the delegates attending Conference. There are
also a number of regional development co-ordinators (RDCs) required who are usually
appointed from experienced club officers at Conference.
Once the conference is finished, it is time for the Conference photograph and
our final lunch together before everyone departs for home.
Conference 2008 will be hosted by Norwich and Norfolk
IVC.
